Gradings at Crawley Aikido Club

Individual students may progress at different rates depending on their mental attitude and natural ability. At Crawley Aikido Club gradings are not usually set for a particular date but are taken when the instructor feels that the student is ready. The degree of proficiency in performing a particular technique is expected to increase as the student moves up through the grades. Ultimately, it is hoped that the techniques will become instinctive.

A set number of basic exercises and techniques are required for each grading syllabus. Posture, awareness and attitude are also examined during gradings as they are of vital importance to the successful completion of any technique. Uniforms (Gi) and general appearance must always be clean and tidy.

There is no additional charge for gradings.

The first grading is for yellow belt (fifth kyū). You can download the Crawley Aikido Club yellow belt grading syllabus here. Of course as you go up through the ranks, more techniques will be required against each attack .
